From the MLB site:

Quote:
Marlins end a bitter Mets season, again
Mets collapse, the sequel. Doomed by a dreadful bullpen that failed them again Sunday, the New York Mets completed their second consecutive September slide with a 4-2 loss to Florida that knocked them out of playoff contention in the final game at Shea Stadium. Scott Schoeneweis and Luis Ayala served up back-to-back homers in the eighth inning that put the pesky Marlins ahead, and New York (89-73) lost out to Milwaukee (90-72) for the NL wild card on the last day of the season.
I'm kinda floored that the Mets didn't make it.

In contrast, they had this summation for the Phils game:

Quote:
Phillies subs rough up Nationals
Lou Marson and Matt Stairs hit back-to-back homers for Philadelphia and the NL East champion Phillies rested their regulars in an 8-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday. So Taguchi drove in three runs for the Phillies, who kept all their starters out of the lineup a day after they clinched their second consecutive NL East title. Major league home run champion Ryan Howard had a pinch-hit single and scored on Taguchi's triple. The Phillies already tacked a "2008 National League East Division Champions" sign over the 2007 version on the wall into the clubhouse.

I'm so glad the marlins got to play spoiler this year. They're a good club, just need better pitching.

If I'm not mistaken, this means that the Phils play Milwaukee in the first round? Oh man it's going to be a slug fest.

We more than match the Brewer's in offense, we also have the edge (if you can beleiev it) in pitching. Not to mention home field.

Not sure, usually you run your rotation on it's regular schedule, or you start your most rested top 3.

We should know by tomorrow, Tuesday at the latest.

GO PHIGHTIN'S !!!!

Remember we just swept 4 from them earlier this month to draw to within a tie in the widcard with them.....I'm sure they want some payback.

It's hard to find a Phils game on tv/radio in Colorado (lived in Golden/Castle Rock for 6 years), but it's the playoffs you'll at least get it on TBS.

Why would I be a mets fan? They should call you Columbro.

I couldn't give two shits about the phillies or the mets.
