Resonator Removal?

Where is the best place to take my car to get the resonator removed? I live in the Houston area. My car has a Remus muffler on it and I want it to sound a bit deeper. Will removing it make a noticeable difference in the tone?

Removing the resenator will make it sound very HARLEY DAVIDSON ish... heard it myself, didnt like it

A million people have done this since the Remus is so quiet, any local exhaust shop can do it for like 30-40 bucks.

Oh i dont know about your exhaust, but i heard the remus on a X5 with them removed, it sounded WACK..... By the way, does anyone know if a car without resonaters will pass inspection, or if it will mess with the O2 sensor

I removed the resonator from my 330Ci and it sounds different than the resonator removed from my buddy's 323i.

I want to have my resonators removed also. I have an AC-S Exhaust system and it is just way way too quiet for my tastes. I don't think it will mess with the O2 sensors. They are on the exhaust manifold ahead of the resonators.

Yup the sensors are up front..........you can chop those Ressies off without a problem.

There are pre-cat and post-cat O2 sensors. Located on the exhaust manifold/(headers correct term?)

I think I may have worded it wrong, they are "ahead" meaning towards the front of the car, before the resonators.

I removed mine, doesnt sounds Harley Davidson like at all. I like it a lot, nice deep tone. I have a Dinan Exhaust.

Different how? I have a 323Ci and I was gonna remove one next week (after Finals).

Did you remove just one or both? I have the Dinan also... how does it sound?

On my 330i with remus exhuast it got at least 60% percent louder. And it sounds awesome!

BTW it wont do anythin to your smog,

I removed one, but will get the second one removed as well. I think it sounds just fine with one removed, deep and not too loud but just right. However on the track I want some more noise out of the car and therfore I will remove my second one as well.

No butt-dyno performance gains...

323s/328s are quieter in stock form than 325s/330s...

Not sure if it will get "louder" if you only remove a resonator and still have the stock "exhaust"/muffler. It'll definitely be louder with an aftermarket "exhaust"/muffler though...

I removed one resonator, the 2nd one which is closest to the muffler, and I love it with my Dinan "exhaust"... ask Hamann99 what he thinks of my setup.

For those considering doing this, start with the 2nd resonator...

I disabled the little flap on my stock exhaust, and its loud enough for me already.

Had mine removed yesterday (2nd resonator only)...Sounds great...nice deep throaty sound...I have Hamann DTM.

No noticeable performance gains. Just nice sound. I luv the sound emit in first gear...and of course WOT is great too.
