HELLLLP ME OUT!! DSC light flashes, loss of power under medium to hard acceleration

Hey guys i need some help with a problem that just started yesterday. well under medium-ish acceleration(not flooring it and not burning rubber at all) my dsc light will flash and i will have little(if any) to no power at all. usually if i come off the accelerator it will give me the power again. this has happened about 4 times within the past 2 days, and i just dont want my car to break down after all the money i put in my car for bimmerfest so any help please! i did a little research and it might be a wheel speed sensor? Can anyone confirm that. (which would make sense since i got my two rear tires replaced yesterday. Id really hate to miss bimmerfest cause of this so help me out please!

You got new tires yesterday and this "problem" also started yesterday? Most likely your new tires simply need a couple hundred miles to break in. Until then, they aren't going to be as sticky as you're used to. What tires did you install yesterday and what else have you done to the suspension lately?

nothing to suspension i just got fk 452's 265/30/19. but it doesnt seem like its just new tires slipping and the dsc is going off because i mean i know what it feels like when dsc's kicking but this feels much more drastic. also ive changed my tires on this car probably 3 times(on the rears) and ive never expeienced this. thanks for the response!!

Have you run this particular tire before? Have you turned off the DSC to see what happens?

I'm glad you posted this. I put on new rears today (as they were cording). Fronts still have a few hundred left on them. Same tires that I had on. Hankook Ventus EVO V12s. DSC light was coming on like crazy in places on my way home (country roads) where they never do. I'm chalking it up to needing some break-in. Plus, I'll check the pressure in the morning. Discount may have balooned them up.

no first time changing the rears from 255/35 to 265/30 now. thats what i was thinking could be a possibility. so what do i do just wait it out or do i have to reprogram anything or something like that??

Just drive carefully until traction improves.

Turns out I was actually 8lbs low per tire in the rear. They only put in 30 at Discount. After the experience I had, I really should have checked before I left there.

I've been told that when new tires are shipped (or was it manufactured), they have a coating on them. This coating makes them slippery.

That is what has to wear off in the first hundred miles or so before the grip improves. So what you two are seeing is normal.

My brothers does the same thing....he has an SMG...I believe that your new tires Arnt sticking to the pavement as well..its like there is so much uncontrolled power with the e46 smg m3's. They just want to break traction! Is urs SMG or manual?

This has happened to me... But my tire passenger rear tire got slashed and I didn't know, and when I started to drive I was getting this same problem... When I thought logically about it since it was so flat that it had unbeaded itself and my only logic explanation was the rim was spinning inside the actual tire which set off the dcs light... When I got a New tire it stopped... Also when you got the new tires did you reset the tire psi sensor? Not sure if that has anything to do with it but putting in my 2cents

Actually, you should be happy. You know your ABS/DSC unit is working properly.

On tires, it's usually the mold release that needs to be worn off. Back in the day (mid 80's) when I was working at my dads Porsche repair shop, we'd run into another problem. 928's used to wear out the rear tires in about 8-10K. Put a new set on and you could light up the rears (especially on an automatic) by just breathing on the throttle. So, we'd go in the back lot and light up the tires a few times and the traction got much better.

One other thing to think about, negative camber is not the best thing when it comes to straight-line grip. So, high horsepower, negative camber and new tires are a recipe for lack of straight-line grip. Thank goodness for traction control.

Mine's not straight line, it's on some easy twisties that I took yesterday (with bald tires). Still had some problems this morning, too.

alrite just an update on my problem so i took it up the twisties and learned quickly that its usually only in 3rd gear but also will happen in 2nd 1st and 4th( also i wasnt driving hard or anything taking it thru the twisties at the speed limit or probally a little below the speed limit even). to respond to someones reply about the slash in his tire i did notice some few slashes in the back right dont know why, but nothing deep it doesnt look like it would affect anything. just little 1/4 in slashes in the sidewall maybe 2 or 3 at most. and as the new tire hypothesis these aren't new, there actually used with 90-95% thread on both of them so i doubt its because of it being completly new. i turned my dsc off up there(dont worry i was being really safe) and i had no problems at all. when it was on i really couldnt go over 15 mph becuase dsc kept kicking on so often...

WOw, i really have to read everything.

since you've driven around with dsc off and no problems, and the tires aren't new. maybe they are old and have gotten hard?

That's a little on the high side for daily driving. Try lowering to about 36 psi and see if you notice any improvement.
