Which is why I've been buying either ammo or a new firearm every paycheck I get. Get it now while you still can! Seriously, don't even think about it! Just do it!

OP: let me know if you have any final questions about shipping/purchasing...it can be costly to not have it done correctly.

In africa you can get one for a chicken.....

My buddy has Ak's and Ar-15

Ak is terrible for home defense because its round doesn't fragment like the Ar-15-which won't penetrate the sheet rock.... 16 inch barell, foregrip, flashlight...good site...done.

Ak is a great gun but not for home defense...

Yeah but I would rather patch a small rifle hole than re-sheet rock my house.

i'd love to get one but they're illegal in Canada... btw, with AK bullets are going to go through your wall no problem, I wouldn't get it for home defense, you don't wanna shoot up your neighbors and kids on the street... but if it was legal here, I'd get it 100% they're

Even in Gun unfriendly states like California you can get AK-47s and AR-15 rifles, semi-auto, not automatic of course.

Of course you can only use 10 round magazines that are locked into position if the rifle has a pistol grip.

If you want home defense, buy a short barreled 12 Gauge. Assualt rifles indoors are pretty brutal noise/concussive force wise. Plus they aren't going to have the sheer knockdown power and shot placement forgivability.

Really your AK-47 was heavier than the AR-15? My Romanian AK-47 is a lot lighter, and more recoil than my AR-15 (Colt.)
And seriously, its not very good for indoor self defense, unless you want to shoot through your target, the TV on the wall, through the wall, and your sister in the other room.

Also I don't know the laws in California, but here in Texas if you pay a certain "tax" you can get a silenced, fully automatic weapon.

How the heck does that work? If you can't remove the magazine how do you add rounds in there? Slide them through the ejection port or something?

The 5.56 has less penetrating power than 230 grain .45 acp. FBI and SWAT use 55grain hornady cap rounds and the other guys use mid to upper 60grain? Ar-15 is loud (drawback) but a high velocity low weigh Ar round will not penetrate sheet rock and 55 grain and lower won't penetrate much and fragment. My buddy uses a 40's weight for this reason.

AK bullet weight is so high it will penetrate your house and your neighbors house and while the Ar is difficult to maneuver (which is why SWAT etc point man in close quarters carries a handgun/small arm and rifflemen come up from behind) I'd take it over an AK any day.
