Dead/Stuck Pixels

I finally got that TV I was soooo excited about and found that on a green screen, there are 4 black pixels. At lunch, I saw this, and let the break-in screens cycle. I know sometimes they work themselves out, but if they don't, I'm taking this sucker back.

I hate it when things like this happen. It ruins my mood.

I shouldn't need it. CC should take it back without questions. I just hate the hassle.

It's not even very noticeable on a completely blue screen from about 5-6 feet, and during regular viewing probably not at all. I wish I was just one of those people that are not bothered by things like that.

I think it's happened to me on another plasma. I can't rembember. Also, research also points that not all stuck pixels are permanent.

Most likely, I'll just exchange it. In the next 30 days, CC should be able to supply me with a unit that doesn't have dead pixels.

Run some porn through there. That should wake the pixels up!

yea they aren't all permanent. but i find that those break in SD cards that they supply you don't do anything. i'd probably rather just leave it on a channel for awhile.

also, when you bring it back next time. don't turn on the tv right away. wait awhile since you tilted it. it should probably help settle it or something, then turn it on. a lot of stuck/dead pixels come from improper transport or manufacturing defects.

As long as you're in your first 30 days, it shouldn't be a problem to get it swapped for a new set. I was unlucky enough to have a dead pixel on my LCD just outside of the 30 day warranty so I have to wait till my 1yr manufacturer warranty is up before I can call BB back in Luckily a pixel on a 40" 1080p display isn't all that big so it isn't too bad and doesn't bother me too much.

I've been watching TV all day on and off and I've been trying to locate them during moving images on blue backgrounds, and I absolutely can't. I have to yet figure out if it's bothering me or not. It's a huge display with over 2 million pixels. There are 4 on one certain color that show up as black. Not a huge deal, but I haven't made up my mind yet.

I saw that CC was having a bunch of unadvertised specials Saturday morning. Check the price of your tv tomorrow -Saturday - so you can get the difference if its cheaper.

Well if it's just one color that's out per pixel then it may not be a big deal. But if you are noticing them then I would still take it in since all you lose out of the deal is a little time out of your day, and a fresh TV in return, lol. My dead pixel is completely dead so it catches my eye every now and then. Since I use mine as a computer monitor most of the time it is out of frame of most of the content I view so it's not a huge problem.

Yeah, plus if he has 4 pixels dead today, he might have 5 tomorrow and 10 next week etc....Murphy's law says it will get worse right after the warranty expires.

Well if there are that many dead pixels they may cover it under the manufacturer's warranty (usually 1yr.) Mine isn't covered "because of its location" and because it is "within the margin of error" or some BS like that.

I have NEVER seen a dead pixel in a PLASMA.

Change sources, change settings, change something.

I have seen television programming that had dead pixels in the camera they used to shoot the show (ie - the work during commercials)

I see dead pixels all the time in LCDs.

Usually if a plasma has an issue, its a complete line and obviously a defect like any other issue on any other item.

I repeat, I have NEVER seen a dead pixel in a PLASMA.

I am not saying it is impossible, just not common like an LCD.

There are no STUCK ones. Plasmas are phosphers which get lit, LCDs have doors that get stuck.

I'm using 1920X1080 images for the break-in and they're read from a SD card. I rebooted my cable box connected through HDMI because it has a blue screen at the start, and the same pixels are black.
