Stuffed Peppers - Unstuffed and Sauteed

Ok, here is another recipe I love making. Again, I cannot take credit for it. I do though prepare it differently. By the time I get through all the leftovers, the peppers start breaking down. So, I went the sauteed route.

Original recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/e...ipe/index.html

Ingredients

- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Worcester sauce
- 1 (10-ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry;
- 1 medium zucchini, coarsely grated (about 2 cups)
- 1 small onion, chopped(about 1 cup)
- 1/2 cup bulghur wheat
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, diced/chopped
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1-2 bell peppers (red/orangle/yellow), diced
- 1 full tomato; diced
- 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese

Unlike the original recipe, I seasoned the meat prior to cooking. In one bowl, combine ground meat, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic, ground cumin, worcester sauce, and onions. In another bowl, combine spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, bulghur, egg, salt, pepper, bell peppers, tomato.

In one huge skillet, first brown the ground meat. Once cooked, combine the rest and cook for 5-10 minutes. In the last few, add the feta cheese. Remove from heat.

Take two pieces of bread, toast them, then place food on top of food.

Enjoy!

little typo there?
You toast bread, if you toasted toast there would really be no need because the toast in question would already be toasted.

No, a sammich would not be right. I've also put it into a bowl and served it that way. To either their own.

It sounds really tasty. Maybe it would look better if you served it over rice or maybe form it into a lump and set it next to some rice.

Rice would be more appropriate because traditionally with stuffed peppers you use rice. At the same time, bulghur wheat and rice....not sure how that would work.
