so whats the best deal out of these tv's?

So i'm in the market for a >40" tv and after some research, decided against purchasing online. Did a little shopping around at local stores today and this is what I found.

Sears
42" Vizio Plasma - 720p
$700

Costco
42" Vizio LCD - 1080p
$700

50" Vizio Plasma - *Display Model*
$800

IEI (local elec. store)
42" LG LCD - 720p
$700

Best Buy
42" Panasonic TH-42pz770 Plasma - 1080 OPEn BOX
$700

So which one would you get?

I'd try to find a Samsung 40" 1080p set (LN40A550) or 720p set (LN40A450). The 450 in particular could easily be had in the price range you're looking right now.

Panasonic plasmas are by far the best value in TVs IMO.

I don't see any 70'' on your list... They are the best kind to dance in front of... Wait, get a 32'' and 2 midgets and there you go...70''

well this is for a guest room in my new house. Will be used by my brother like 3 days a week. I'm already spending like 10k on various tv's in my house and I'm trying to save some money. I don't need top of the line. Yes, I am settling.

I just put a 720p Panny in my guest room. I can buy anything I want at dead cost. It is a great TV.

My 37" Panny Plasma was $2000 a few years ago. $800 now for a 42" is a fantastic value.

The TVs are phenomenal btw.

I actually went to 6th ave yesterday and they had the same deal

I couldn't decide between that one for $650 or the open box 42" (1080p instead of 720) for $700

Not all Panasonic's are good tv's. And I have extreme doubts that a $700 plasma is any good.

The best I saw was Frys last week had a 46" Samsung 1080p LCD for $900 out the door. Huge special, almost everyone in the store was walking out with one.

If it is for a spare bedroom that should be fine though. I'd vote for the Panny as well.

None of the above. Look deeper for a 1080P LCD
