Best hot pastrami/corned beef on rye in 'murica

Nothing touches Schwartz's in Montreal. I'm afraid I've only known Carnegie Deli and Katz's in Manhattan and I've yet to try this place on College St. in Toronto that a friend recommended. Had a sandwich in DC today near Georgetown at a place called Stachowski's but it's inconsistent...was amazing my first time but today it wasn't consistently steaming throughout all the slices.

Please tell me your favorites. No, Philly cheesesteaks and other beef briskets do not belong in this thread.

Help me out, 'murica, cuz I think Canada does steaming deli meat better.

I've had some pretty good pastrami/corn beef sandwiches from my regional delis. I've also had some crappy sandwiches in the region as well. It's all a matter of opinion.

Sadly I don't remember the names. I went with people who knew of the places. I'm traveling 5x in the next 3 weeks. I'll try to taste test pastrami/corned beef sandwiches in the different cities I travel to. Then I can report back.

Live in WB currently. Awesome little city. W&M is pretty low key but I like the colonial shops and the upper class that live here.

Blacksburg was awesome the 4 years I lived there. I miss Tech. I'll be back there next Friday for work though. Gotta go interview some engineering chicas for a Co-op position.

salad on a pastrami or corned beef...lol, no thanks. The only thing I'll add is some sauerkraut.
Steamboxed for the best, rye is traditional but I prefer challah (egg bread) instead unless I'm getting a Reuben.

For me, the perfect deli sandwich is Challah, Corned Beef, mustard (sometimes french's sometimes deli) and mayo...that's it.

The best near me here in San Diego that I've tried is DZ Akin's. In LA I go to Factor's, Canter's, Langer's, Astro Burger & The Hat.
Pastrami sandwiches are a lot easier to find in Los Angeles than it is to find in San Diego. So many of the small business burger places have pastrami in LA, which isn't flatiron or microwave warmed.
