really, damn. Iv had stuff shipped from circuit city w/ no problems. wasn't a receiver though

I can get pretty much any brand sold to custom installers at cost + 10% (That's what it costs me to get) NAD, Onkyo, Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon, etc. etc.

I would recommend Denon over most things until you get high end. The Denon Ci stuff is pretty good. I like Integra the best but that will be hard to get at the moment. The new Onkyo stuff is a good bet as well. The old stuff was trash. PM me for pricing.

i am sure marantz has fantastic receivers, but when comparing the units side by side price wise, the denons/elites are a much better bang for the buck (in terms of what features you get). the feature set on the pioneer vsx-01txh @ 750 retail is more than adequate... the same features in a marantz unit is like $1200 (i think the sr6000 or something like that has a comparable feature set)...

I will definitely be in contact probably sometime in January. I know my dad wants to upgrade the pre-amp in his theater... its a sunfire unit that is a good 5 years or so old (it doesn't support the latest formats, which is the only reason he wants to change it).

You are correct. Denon and Marantz are actually sister companies. Denon focus is on features and value, Marantz focus is on sound quality.

I just replaced my Sherbourn preamp with a Marantz SR7002. I swear it sounds better than my preamp did on the same Grand Cinenova 300w x 5 power amp.
