Motor mounts
Does anyone know a good place to get some motor mounts? Mine are more than likely shot and need to be replaced.

Got mine from www.bimmerzone.com. I believe they had the best deal.

Okay but which ones did you get? I have two kinds to choose, one is Sachs and the other it Corteco.

I remember paying $50 something when I got mine but I can't remember which ones they were. Maybe they were Sachs but price has gone down by now. I'd say you'd be safe with Sachs as they make a lot of OEM stuff for BMW

its easy you can do it your self to. You will need to unbolt it and jack up the engine just a bit.

I just looked up my receipt. I got Corteco ones, A7000-277416. I am kinda cheap and I know I would have gotten Sachs ones but I must have searched by part number from RealOEM, which returned Corteco ones only.
It took me like an hour to do it but then I got a pit in my garage which makes things bit easier. Either way, it's not a hard job. 1. Once you get your car on jackstands (never had to do that because of the pit), unbolt passenger side mount fully and losen up drivers side. Don't fully take off nuts from drivers side. 2. Slowly jack up engine under the oil pan and make sure you use piece of wood between jack and the pan. Jack it up only so much that you can get the mount out. 3. Once you get the new mount in, slowly lower the engine down, making sure that mount fits perfectly in it's spot. There is only one way that it can sit in there. Bolt it up 4. Unbolt other mount, slowly jackup engine and slide old one out. Slide new one in. So key thing here is to do one side at the time. As I stated in that thread, you will need two 10" extensions and universal joint. Bottom nuts are unbolted thru the opening in control arm and can't be done without the universal joint. |

Rogue also carries Performance Motor Mounts for your car. If you have any questions on the mounts feel free to send me a PM or you can check our website here:
Rogue Engineering - Performance Engine Mounts (most BMWs) http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1956 Just like factory, but better The factory-like design incorporates the anti-rotational tabs ensuring that the mounts do not rotate. Use of these mounts virtually eliminates all deflection created from the engine. This is especially true for high-powered vehicles such as those with turbos or superchargers. The internals of the mount feature a unique locking system in the event of a crash, the internal hardware of the mounts prevent complete failure of the mount. Whereas the integrity of the mount will be compromised, its internal construction prevents the mounts upper and lower plates from completely tearing away from each other. Whereas this may seem to be a small feature, this will ultimately decrease the chances of the engine from breaching the firewall, and entering the internal compartment of the vehicle. No other performance mount can make this claim. Models Supported: All e30 3-series models, including M3 All e36 3-series models, including 318ti All e46 3-series models, including M3 All e36/7 Z3 3-series models, including MZ3/MZ3C All e85 Z4 models, including MZ4/MZ4C

Okay, i may not have to do them after all, my car has been in the shop for the past 3 months and this is the latest problem, so they say, and the down tubes. the shop might take care of it, we'll see.

Also, my biggest problem was movement of shifter under heavy acceleration, which made shifting very hard. That's gone now also. Initially I thought it was the tranny mounts, and one of the was ripped, but this didn't fix the shifter movement. Motor mount replacement did.
