Yet another interior project in progress - The Laguna Seca Blue Experiment

i have wanted to do an interior project for a while (and i have a boner for lsb interiors), but i wasn't confident enough that it would turn out right. plus, i don't have another car to drive, so i can't exactly rip out the interior of my car to do silly ****.

but, i found a bunch of m3 interior parts from a forum membor for SUPER cheap, so my car remains intact as i do this, and if it turns out bad, then all i wasted was $150 and a drive to jersey. let's find out.

first coat on a piece of the rear seat back:




observations so far: smurfy.

OMG YES! I wish I woulda done this to my old seats instead of buying new cinnamon seats.... I hope it works out for you!

i think that's enough? the color looks dark and even. it's a little brush-strokey (and shiny), but once its fully dry, sanding with 1200 should take care of that.

all i got is a $100 point-n-shoot, so this is as good as the pictures are gonna get, unfortunately... unless i borrow a digital slr from someone.

i like cinnamon, it looks pretty classy. but apparently "classy" is not my style.

just out of curiosity, i searched the interior classifieds forum to see how much a real LSB interior goes for. there have only been two of them for sale on e46fanatics.

the door panels i got came with the bottom half of the armrest - no "trim" piece and no leather armrest pad. i could order OEM LSB armrest pads, but i'd worry they wouldn't match the redyed parts 100% perfectly, so i'll probably just pick up some used gray ones and dye them too. as for the trim, i'm thinking i'll buy someone's old wood trim in the shittiest condition, then sand and paint them piano black.

leatherique. they don't have LSB listed under BMW colors on their website, but i called them to ask about custom colors and how big of a sample i'd have to send. turns out they already had mixed LSB for someone before, so i didn't need to send a sample. which is good because i don't have one. it's still considered a custom color though, so the dye is slightly more expensive.

yes...

i knew it, i'm hoping to get those to do the same thing, too bad im from canada, and shipping cost a fortune....

yep. he's right near my parents house, so i really had no excuse NOT to pick it up... and pay a visit to mom & dad on the way back. once i got there, we tried to get the dash to fit in my car too, but it just wasn't happenning.
