RX8 vs 330ci?

the 350z is faster than i expected, it clearly is not in the same league as the RX-8. How is the RX-8 compared to the 330ci tho?

I don't get the RX8. Unless I mis-read the last car rag I read, the "hot" version w/manual was 6.5 0-60. Not terrible but add an auto or an auto in the less powerful version and it's not even competitive.???

well the auto first is sh!t but the manual version looks like a s2k by the technical data, 250 HP with low torque, like 150 1.3 liter rotory

Thumbs down Re: RX8 vs 330ci?

The RX8 is all show and no go. It has high horsepower, strange looks (interior not bad though) but no torque. I heard high 6's to low 7 second times 0-60.

A good second car for someone like me who wants a 2 door but needs a 4 door (kids).

The rotary engine would kick ass with a few bolt-ons. A nice car to kick some American steel ass.

From all that I know, I want it!

RWD, 250 hp, light weight, & more std or opt safety equipment than the S2000 (IMO, the S2000's big flaw). Also, I heard it'll have more low end torque than the S2000, a plus.

IMO, it looks hot!

sigh so much bullshiet info here.

1. rx8 isnt out yet
2. production has already began and japan will get it first in april. will hit u.s shores in late may/early june. http://rotarynews.com/view.php?id=159

http://www.media.mazda.com/news_rele...03/0217be.html
3. 250hp/160torque, could vary by like 2 hp and/or torque
4 yes it has "low" torque but it has a flat torque curve and low weight. and rotaries loves to be revved
5. 1.3 liter, dual rotor rotary. thats 192 hp per liter. 10k redline
6. weight is anywhere from 2800-3000. mazda promises it be below 3000
6. 4 seats, 2 front doors that open regular, and 2 smaller back doors that open "free style"
7. 50/50 weight distribution
8. 6 speed manual, best gear box in the world
9. no official times yet, but 0-60 should be around 6
10. car handles BETTER then the rx7 and the rx7 is like the best handling car ever, no match for bmw in handling department
11. mazda invited journalists to test drive the rx8 at laguna seca raceway. here r some of those first drive write ups

""The performance is right on the money...the chassis balance is as near perfect as you'll ever experience"

"Much more of a drivers car that the audi TT"

"The best gearchange you'll ever experience in a roadcar"

"The sttering is an utter delight thanks to the lack of weight up front"

"If your idea of the perfect car is an affordable, beautifully balanced, rear wheel drive, normally aspirated performance car, then the Mazda RX8 should go straight to the top of your shopping list"
thats from UK EVO magazine, the best UK car magazine

heres a canadian write up

Not to mention the rebirth of the RX-7 hinges on the success of the RX8...which Mazda should have NO problem with based on the success they are having with the gorgeous Mazda 6 and the Protege line! Mazda RX-8 is much more beautiful than the portly 350Z IMO

I dont like this statement, rotary motors are highly delicate...i have blown 2 of them, it takes alot of time money and experince to tune a rotary motor and keep it reliable and powerful
