Weird smoke thing

I have a 2001 330i sedan and lately I've had this weird smoking problem. It's white smoke and smells like gas. It only does it on occasion, sometimes when I start it, sometimes when I start driving again after a stop sign or red light. The other day it just bogged down and felt like it had no power at all.. It has some weird sound that the exhaust does too either right before or right after it smokes. Kinda like an old diesel truck. It only smokes for 5-10 seconds. I'm due for an oil change, I have driven it maybe 10 miles in the last month. Could the ethanol in the gas be causing it? The only codes I bring back are that banks 1&2 are running too rich. I can get 100% gas if I need to

Suggest you trade for a 2004 Infinity G35. This should solve all of your problems.

I know for me it was the CCV. Once I fixed that (super pain in the ass btw) smoke problems and burning oil smell stopped

Thanks. Spelling is not my strong suit.

elimitchell....you ever get your white smoke issue resolved? My 2001 325 has had an intermittent white smoke/power loss problem for awhile, some plugs fouled but change them out and problem continues along with service engine soon light. Some threads indicate the CCV and internet discussions also point to that. I also notice very high suction at the oil filler cap with engine running.....so strong that I need a pipe wrench to loosen the cap and then very hard to lift off due to the high suction. i have an appt at BMW to change out the CCV soon.....146,000mi and never been changed. Hope it solves the problem.
