Last week my steptronic Ecu was updated at the local BMW service and the problem (jerky step) disapear.

I have the same problem. I had all bushings checked, had an atf oil changed as well but still didn't resolve this issue.. Damn... Good thing I found this thread.. Thank you thank you..
Since it is suggested to have a software re-flashed which should 99% resolve this issue. Do you think it will have the same solution if I update the transmission software through Dinan other than the dealers?

was it 108?

Mine does that in the cold too, first couple 2-1 stops in M mode (steptronic)

I'm going to Dinan this Thursday since they are doing free Oil Change and Safety check inspection!

I'll ask them about the transmission problem and my squeaking break pedal .

Make the same complaint.. even point out the TSB. They just might. I wasn't aware software updates were covered by CPO.

I had mine re flashed under CPO and they did not charge me, apparently this was a mistake on their end. It totally took care of the problem your having. Goodluck!

Gentlemen - please try this FREE technique prior to chaning your tranny fluid or having the dealer reflash your software. Disconnect your battery for a couple minutes and it will reset your tranny software. I had this same transmission downshift jerk and this cured it for me almost instantly.

High,
i have just brought a 98 328 and have a no over run engine breaking on down shift in tiptronic. when i select 4th down to 3rd or any gear in tip tronic when i lift off the engine drops to idle

i got mine relfashed at my local shop @ rmp motors. apparently he put a euro software ..no problems ever after dat..costed only like 60$
