Samsung TV software upgrade via USB: anybody done it?

I bought a Samsung it is a Series 5 550 for my room and I see it has upgradeable software via USB. The manual says to call the 800 number to get info on this, but i figured id check here 1st Anybody done a software upgrade on their TV?

I thought about doing it, but I don't really need it. Check out the AVForum. They have a ton of info on the process and what to expect and whether it'll be worth it to you or not.

I upgraded the firmware on my LNT40-81F series TV. Just copied the firmware file to my usb stick and then went to the menu and on the TV and installed it. Took a few mins and I wwas all set afterwards. Definitely check the www.avsforum.com forums

hmm yea i have no idea how to do that lol also what differences did it make?

What's there to know? You get a USB drive, place downloaded file onto the USB drive, plug USB drive into TV... and that's it.

Either Samsung's website (usually under "Support" or "Downloads") or send tech support an email and they'll send you the file.
