Okay so I didn't think this was going to be so hard. But I managed to get the trunk and vanity lights to work, but now my footwell, and the rear interior lights are not working. My power windows and power locks are not working. and it says that I have 3 of my 4 doors open, when they're tightly shut. The passenger door says it's not open, but it is open. and no fuses are blown... ummm, help?!

wth, sounds like you shorted something out while you were installing it because all of those things are connected to the gm5 module.

i would go and uninstall all the interior lights again and replace it with stock bulbs and test if they all work. if they do, then put the LEDs back in one by one and test for all of them working before moving onto the next. you'll be able to find your culprit then.

Well I just got my LED tails in, and so where/how do I hook up the resistor?

p.s. I hooked up the regular stock bulbs, and disconnected the battery for 10 minutes, didn't even do anything. It didn't even reset anything in my car..

I just put my LEDs in that I purchased from LED Automotive. I have the Angel eyes tapped in to the footwell. I am looking to get the resistor to make it all work properly, I second the request for some pics of the resistor install and a quick writeup on how to install it correctly without any issues.

Thanks

take out your LED tails and see if that might be the culprit. sorry, didn't know you had those tails in, i would have suggested to remove them first before doing the interior LEDs.

for the resistor the place to put them varies quite a bit. that is why i had to take the bulbs out one by one and replace them with an incandescent until you find the one that works as an incandescent while all the others are LEDs. that is the one you want/need to put a resistor on.

then you go and buy the resistor posted by mitch on page 3 or so. and solder that in.

i guess you can say that's a quick DIY write up right there

doesn't LED automotive market their LEDs as being error free and no problems? i'd take it up with them if you can.

*I just now found these posts...*
sillieidiot, thanks for referring him back to us. We have been in touch with this customer to resolve the problem he is having.

It looks like there are a small percentage of cars that have this problem, even with our LEDs installed. For those customers, we are offering our services to resolve it. More info can be found here:

Getting the plastic covers off of the light fixtures was pretty difficult, maybe it was because i didnt want to break anything. The lights themselves look great, but again, the lights that are in the top and the back were difficult to get out. Looks great, gives my car a good look

Soo... 2 months still after I bought my e46, and 2 months still after I bought the LED interior kit and I STILL haven't installed this damn resistor to get the lights to work.

It's got these two plastic clips that came with my resistor... so do I just literally hook those two plastic clips into the footwell wire? I make things too difficult.. ahahah.

help a gal out. please.

do you have a picture of what kind of resistor and clips you are using? are they blue? if so, then yea, just tap them to the footwell wires and hide that thing somewhere.

^ What he said

I would only add that you should be careful where you put the resistor. It may get hot and it it sits on plastic, there is a possibility that the resistor will melt the plastic.

Just be careful where you put it

yea then you just use those red taps onto the footwell wires. should be good. if it doesn't work, then you need to strip the wire a little more so that the taps work (cause they suck at piercing the insulation)
