whe the above said. But the pz80u is a current model and does fit his price range. thats like recommending a ferrari to the guy asking for the 325i. Sure, everyone would love one but not to many choose to buy them because they are the top of the line. Kudos to you for buying it though, i am truly jealous.

No advice on model.. but I've got a sony plasma in a room with huge doors on 2 walls opening onto a deck... I live in a VERY sunny place... never had issues with room not being dark enough.. granted you cant see everything on a sunny day.. but then again.. go outside?

At night... well.. then it's night time

oh yeah.. and its a Sony

I know. I was only teasing. I was hoping he'd get the 73" and invite me over for the superbowl.

I dunno. Rather have some glare on the blackest of blacks than no black at all.

I bought a 42 inch Panny Plasma yesterday. PZ85U and I love it so far.
I bought it on sale for 998. I think I did good. It was still cheaper at Fry's than it was at Circuit City at their liquidation sale.

I also bought a 5 year warranty for 159 which I thought was pretty good.
I have never been a fan of extended warranties, but they said if I have a problem and it is not fixed in 3 tries I get a new tv and they give me a loaner while mine is getting fixed. I figured, hey 32 dollars a year is not bad. When Hayabusa posted those remarks about his pixels, I thought I might go ahead with the warranty.

I found a site on AV forums and got some calibration standards that were generally accepted by the forum and reset the tv.

I can't believe how bold the colors are.

I am going to get a Panny blu ray player but they are sold out in the area.

Life is good.
