Victory is sweet. The final rattle did turn out to be the hood stop bolt that jbeurotech indicated. The bolt could be raised or lowered to provide support for the hood when it was closed. Over time, the bolt would wear, and a gap opened up between the bolt and the hood. Over bumpy roads the hood would bang on the bolt producing a noise that was transmitted into the cabin. As my passenger side bolt was less well adjusted than the one on the driver side, most of the hood banging occurred on the passenger side, with an occasional bang on the driver side. The noise could best be described as resembling a cable whipping a body panel. Now, the noises on both sides of the car have been eliminated, and the front of my cabin is noise-free.

Hood stop bolt.

The bolt was adjusted and then wrapped up using a small sheet of 1mm thick silicone rubber kitchen drawer liner, and tied up with cable tie. The rubber stops wear on the bolt and also prevents sharp metallic impact with the hood.

This job is now complete and all my goals achieved. Additionally, my accidental destruction of an ignition coil while manipulating electrical connectors with the battery still connected during this job allowed me to gain experience in engine diagnosis and also gaining full ECU diagnostics and control capability. This job has rewarded me very handsomely.

Yes I am still going nuts, until the moment when the 3 series is as refined as the 7 series in noise comfort. When I get in the car, I don't wanna hear no nothing. Obviously I still got to be able to hear myself think.

General Questions can be sent to appointment@jbeurotech.com

1. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
2. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

You have a lot experience for BMW rattle noises.
The story is I have a rattle noise it can be describe as resonate something. A very clear you can hear on right side of the engine, the BMW shop supervisor told is nothing wrong with the engine, he was listening with the long screwdriver the pointing in different spots of the engine. He's said resonate somewhere. The Q where?
Thanks,

Thanks for that! The sound was driving me mad and I just couldn't isolate it. What a relief!

Yes, its been back together for a very long while, and I am as happy as can be. The interior of my car sounds newer than a new car. I used to always drive with music. Now I just drive listening to the pure exquisite silence. It's addictive. I miss the squeaks and rattles a little now that they are gone.
