good quality 16 is fine under 200w. You could always double it up if you wanted.

I usually use 14 but 16 multistranded is fine for most applications, especially under 200w or $800 receiver.

well i trust your advice for the most part.

i am using a Sony STR-DA3200ES ($1000/ 120w x7) connected to Def. Tech Procinema 60.

and was planning on buying this...

i disagree with you as far as HDMI's as you know, but I know speaker wire requires a bit more precision and has a much greater variance in quality between brands, construction, etc... tell me what to buy.

High strand count is really more important than brand.

Since cost is not that much more for such short runs, I would buy 14 or 12 personally.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

The longer the run, the more important the gauge, but for pennies more per foot, you will know that wire is not your weakest link.

Run all speaker wire lengths the same regardless of their placement for best time allignment and volume consistancy.

I ran 14/4 to each of my speakers then double up the conductors.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

90% of my HDMI quality argument is based on installation in a high end residence. Rarely, do we run HDMI less than 25 ft and rarely would the cost savings justify us having to re-run an HDMI if we got a bad one. Rarely, do we not have some type of HDMI commuincation handshake issue with some piece of the customer's gear. At $100 per labor hour, the customer really doesnt save enough to justify using a $50 cable instead of a $250 on $25K project. Make sense?

+1.

Buy what makes sense...the thicker the better, but if its 2x as much to go from 14ga to 12ga...then do the math...
