I'm taking it beyond that level. I'm sourcing a good laser designator and the stock I'm building is more advanced and "busy" than that particular configuration.
Unfortunately, it's going to be 2 months to get the stock. I'm going to build the rifle and break it in with the current stock. Then I'll just re-zero the rifle with the new stock when it comes and I mount it.

It comes with one proprietary 5rd box magazine, but they sell more. They also sell a 10rd box magazine (shown in picture) for $129 each. 10rd mags for a bolt action is a lot since you really never want to shoot more than 5 rounds at a time, but I'm getting those.

No, Remington actually sells the M24 to civilians as the M24. The ACTUAL M24. It's something like $7800 with the whole kit (military hardcase, Leupold Mark 4 scope, bipod, rifle, magazines).

This is going to be my own custom design sniper rifle. Unfortunately, there's no place around here to shoot at 1,000yds.

What grain ammo do you plan on using?
I know you said .308 but 60+ grain or what?

I plan on using 168gr Match ammunition initially. I prefer Hornady's 168gr A-Max Match, or their 168gr TAP.
I'm also planning on trying Remington, Federal, and Black Hills loads. They use Sierra 168gr Match King BTHP bullets, which are supposed to be really accurate also.
Additionally, I may try out some 175gr Match alternatives to see if they fly better or worse out of the rifle.
It's really a matter of fine-tuning and figuring out which rounds work the best overall and are most accurate. Each firearm shoots every round different, and has its own favorite round.

I do plan on reloading some rounds and building up a good cartridge, but not any time soon. I have no room in my house for reloading equipment. All my reloading equipment and presses are in storage right now.

Yeah, it's a Ballistic-Tip bullet. The tip is a polymer tip that does not deform upon impact. So, when it hits a target, it pushes back into the bullet core and causes rapid, explosive expansion of the round. Also, because it's so strong, it does not get damaged easily and maintains good aerodynamics.

Silencer is best for sub sonic ammo like a handgun for example. Best thing for a rifle is something that diverts the sound to the sides and backwards without suppressing it

Note: There is nothing silent about a silencer...thus suppressor.

He doesn't need a huge magazine especially if he is lying down. If he goes to big the magazine could actually get in the way depending on his position, settings on the gun at the time, etc.

I don't know man, you might just want to wait on the stock you have your heart set on.

Well, it's always been a toss-up between the AICS Stage II, and the JAE-700 RSA. I WAS going to get a McMillan stock, but they have to be glass bedded, and that would take over a month to get done. The AICS is cheaper and I actually like the collapsible stock option. Also, it's readily available.

I'll probably get the JAE-100 version stock for my M1A. This way, I won't be redundant and have two guns with the same stock.

The big thing that I want more than anything else is a box magazine conversion. The AICS Stage 2 utilizes a box magazine. They make both 5rd and 10rd mags. Their 10rd mags are around $70, which is about half of the JAE 10rd mags. That's a huge plus.

UPDATE:

Got confirmation of orders for both of my stocks. For my M700 VTR, I ordered the Accuracy International Stage 1.5 green chassis. They said it should be shipped by April or May.









For the Springfield M1A, it won't be until June or July. Still, I may get the stock before the rifle...so not a huge issue there.
