Depends on the color of the car. You wouldnt "murder out" a Imola Red, for instance. Otherwise, Id say its personal preferrence

It's all personal preference but I would ultimately break it down into two main categories:

Clean : Going for an oemesque looking car. Using Mtech and/or m3 components, you get a car that looks classy.

Aggressive: Using carbon fiber, more dramatic body styling, serious drops, interior tidbits, and other pieces to get a car that looks mean and is clearly modified.

rat-look doesnt really apply here.. maybe if it were an e30.. its just that the e46 still looks "newer" and wouldnt look good with rust and sideways license plates and all that.. although I would like for someone to do it, just to be original..

I'm sorry but that looks like garbage (get it, get it) and should not ever be done to a BMW. Mercs and Vdubs fine, but BMW no.

Blacked out stealth look can be sexy and OEM or AM tasteful mods can be sexy but not making your amazing piece of driving machinery look like a steaming heap of junkyard special with a side of rust, that is not sexy...at all...period...ever...never...ever. Never ever.

I wouldn't ever do that to any car regardless of the marquee... just don't understand why anyone would look at that and be like "WOW that's hot"

Same reason idiots "sag" their pants and show their drawers in public.
