Here is one:
http://www.bmw325i.net/maint_rear_diff_fluid.shtml (hopefully the pictures will load for you. For some reason I am having some trouble with this website) You are correct on the basics. Make sure you put the rear of the car on jackstands. This should give you enough room to get the hex into the fill plug. I drove mine onto front ramps and then jacked up the rear and set the jackstands to make it level. All-in-all this is quite easy to do. |

Go buy a good jack from Sears or Harbor Freight. Ramps are available at any auto parts store.

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...3JS&lpage=none I bought the heavy duty plastic ($46, 12K lbs capacity) ramps from an Advanced Auto store and they work great too! http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web..._T|GRP2042____ No problems with either set of products and I use them all the time! Hope this helps |

question; that DIY posted says that the car needs 2 bottles of gear oil, but some people have posted that 1 bottle is enough- so, which is it? i have the liqui moly gear oil, 2 bottles which contain 1 liter each.

its 1.1 L. So you need a little more than one bottle.

^ thanks, dmax! yup mine is the auto. i wasn't able to find the oem fluid, so i bought 2 liters of the liqui moly fully synthetic 75w-90 gear oil. i figured it's german, so it's gotta be as good as oem.
