Purchase the lower receiver then no matter what regulations (i.e. exchangeable magazines) you'll be covered. Makes sense since the upper receiver's mostly just the barrel, but then again if some rule pops up about attachments to the rail or something you'd be screwed then too.

Not to threadjack too much, but when you purchase the upper receiver does it come with the bolt carrier group or is that a separate item you buy as well?
A full upper assembly will include the bolt carrier group also, but you can piece together your upper if you want.

I just started reloading as of Christmas since I got a press then. All I'm currently doing is .40 S&W, but I plan to get dies for a few others. Oddly enough, it is kinda fun it its own way...that and it is a money saver.

Is that a Ranger 12 gauge at the top?
----------------------------------------
FYI for non gun guys.

There are laws in some states which require a specific gun be used or not used when hunting game.

You cannot use an Ar-15 in some states to hunt deer/elk because A. They feel it isn't powerful enough to bring the deer or elk down B. Ammo capacity. I read this a while back...so don't ask me to post the link I lost it

So 22 for squirels.
Shotgun for birds and rabbits.
Big game rifle
Home defense
Conceal carry

So each size game requires a specific gun or else overkill or no kill.
-----------------------------------------------------
Why can't the gun law be state by state? Does he have any idea how many guns are down here? People still have their ancestors revolutionary and civil war weapons...luckily they are black powder and ATF exempt...but grandads M1 and Mauser fall under military ordinance since they have a bayonet lug
-----------------------------------------
I also saw one of our forum members say it was ridiculous for us to use guns to kill animals...that is the way it has always been...at least with the Europeans who figured out that with black powder gun>bow and arrow.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys I am legitimately concerned. I refuse to be fingerprinted or receive any tattoo or little electrode under the skin. I am not a crazy anti-government person. I love my country...and anyone who fights for it...but some of these proposals I have read scare me. I mean the stimulus package has me pretty tense. I see a lot of issues with it...it may work to a degree...but man...I just don't get some of it.
--------------------
I give Obama 2 years to get things organized or else the Republicans will just fight with the Democrats and nothing will get done. That is my most extreme negative prediction as a result of discussion with others. I hope it works out...

I wish you guys the best of luck during these tough times.

PS:Who reloads there own ammo?

Just "hunt" on private property. I'm planning on going to take out some coyotes once I'm done with my AR on my friend's land.

I don't reload my ammo, although I should. I'm too lazy to pick up the casings. Ammo is getting pretty expensive though. I figure when I'm old and have more time on my hands I'll reload.

Thanks Ferm3! That was why I made the thread in the first place.

Nothing is going to happen fast, you won't wake up tomorrow to the local sherriff knocking on your door to collect your guns. Things in our Governmant happen in small increments. It's starts with small things just like this bill and those small things get added to and added to and next thing you know there are so many laws in place about your firearms you wonder when they are coming to get them. In Louisiana I don't have to register my weapons, don't have to buy from just a dealer and I can sell you a gun and collect nothing but the money from you - This is all part of the 2nd amendment. Keep in mind, this is an anti gun administration from the top down and no matter how you slice it, no matter how much people may say "You're overreacting", this administration wants to take guns from the hands of ordinary citizens - Point Blank. The current Attorney General has had great success in the past introducing bills and helping to get them passed and you can bet your bottom dollar gun laws are one of his top priorities.

Where ya at Penguin?

Here's part 2 of the penciled in bill -

They want the bill to include a provision saying that all gun owners need to carry a $1 million dollar insurance policy. Now, I'm not saying any of these ridiculous provisions will make it through on a bill, I'm just pointing out we aren't even 2 months into this new administration and we are already going through this. It could be a very long 4 - 8 years for gun owners.

What kind of BS is that?

Looks like a gun you'd see during a poker game arguement back in the days of the Wild West.

You can't conduct a background check on your brother, that's why.

I don't NEED to conduct a background check on my brother! And the "great power" gambit is just a load of crap.
