Valve Cover Gasket
I have a leaking valve covergasket 126k on a 2000 323 ci m52.
When I went to replace it the new gasket from the dealer does not seat fully into the valve cover. I was told by the dealer this is normal but the gasket I took out sat flush with the lip of the valve cover. This new protrudes about 3 to 4 mm up from the valve cover channel it sits in. Does anyone know if this is the way it is supposed to fit. Last edited by Blue323ci; 02-18-2009 at 10:14 PM. Reason: correct spelling |

Interesting. You can never trust the dealers, as some of them are really incompetent. You are 100% sure that they gave you the proper gasket?
If so, I say it's okay. Tighten it down with the proper torque specs and see how it goes. If it leaks, go to your dealer and don't be nice....

Yes it is the same part number I see on realoem.com so thats why I am concerned since it does not sit flush down in the valve cover channel.
