Things to check
-secondary air pump
-secondary air injection valve
-air ports in the exhaust side of the head (clogged easily)

I think there was a thread about how to test it.

That notwithstanding, I'll make something up on the spot. It's just a motor, so apply some voltage, lol.
You can't get to the air ports because they're in the cylinders, but you can check the valve that the SAP feeds.

Assuming your pump actually runs on a cold start:
To check the whole pump/valve system, run 12V to the pump. With pump running and valve removed from head, but still attached to pump, actuate the valve. If it's a vacuum controlled one, you'll want to apply and release vacuum using a regular ol' hand vacuum pump. If it's the other kind, I'd have to check what type of signal it expects.

You should also do things like test for voltage at the SAP connector if you never hear the pump run. Could be a bad relay or fuse.

Ok i didn't hear the pump running and the fuse seems to be ok but not sure where the relay is? My question is does the SAP turn on at every start up or just when the car is cold?

The air injection valve looks ok. i sucked and blew

ugh

It's OK as I'm decently able to force myself to get stuff done, thanks for asking. It's a little different than usual right now as I'm on a consulting contract until they hire me full time (seems intended and very likely) once they close another round of funding (very early stage startup), hopefully end of Sept. When you go from hourly to salary it's... Different. I also do work a lot at night as I'm a night owl and there's nothing to distract me whatsoever... well, save for a limitless amount of free Internet pron and info on topics such as F1, NFL, presidential election and, well, free Interweb pron. Truth be told I've always actually worked more hours when doing so from home than when in an office, it's even harder to unplug...

Or force myself to change my underwear and shower. Which reminds me, I think I might hose off since I smell like a sweaty Clydesdale and its now 6pm.

Ymmv!

Is your windows trim silver? If so, it needs to be black.

And oh, needs a drop.
