Pretty much anything I "fix" or "customize" ends up "broken" or bring "replaced."

Pretty much everything on my car has necessitated "fixing," "replacing," or "customizing" because it ended up "broken"

Kalim, do new shocks/struts have a break in period? I know they need time to settle to ride height, but in terms of dampening characteristics, are there any differences?

My brother is saying that the new struts don't seem to be dampening properly and that they're behaving almost like they're blown. I know shocks can be defective out of the box (we've gotten a defective Monroe shock before), and in the event that he's not crazy, are there any other possibilities?

Weird. I haven't dealt with any shocks or struts that needed a break-in period. It's easy to tell new dampers are working by feeling for resistance when you try to quickly push or pull on the piston. Blown shocks don't fight back much, especially under compression.
