So I took my car to a mechanic, and was quoted on a number of things that need to be fixed. Brakes (pads, rotors in front and back), an oil gasket (sorry, I am not sure which oil gasket, but it would be labor intensive because of it's location), pulleys/belts (getting some ugly squealing). I was quoted about $1750. That sounds insane to me. What do you guys recommend I do? I hate to make excuses, but DIY is kind of out of the question because of a pain condition.
I'm guessing it's the oil pan gasket. If it is, that job alone can be $750-1000 from what I've heard. I think I was quoted a tick over $1300 by the dealer. It's a huge job.

Overall, the quote sounds a bit high.

It's Albee, mostly because he does it for free.

Straight up, I'll trade my car for something Japanese (like Wes) right now. Lets do it.

Can't get the belt back onto the pulley. When I took it off the bolts holding the pulley on were half backed out (by themselves) and I just took em out and let the pulley fly. Looks like I need to get the fan off so that I can get to the tensioner. I'm either towing it to a shop tomorrow, or taking the day off of work to do it myself.
