Was looking at the Bell & Ross BR 02-92 ORANGE watch and just realized how it has a horrible flaw for a diving watch with a 1000 meter depth rating. See if you can find the flaw.

Answer: The index and hands are painted orange, which is almost the worst color you can paint something for visibility short of black when it comes to a diving watch. As you dive down, the weakest wavelengths get filtered by the water first, in the order of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. By the time you are at 100 feet, just about everything red and orange will look close to black.

Your answer is too simplistic. Underwater color vision is highly variable and orange (especially fluorescent) can be one of the best colors to use.

I'm on a quest for either a digital or analog watch that is both very functional, rugged, and good looking. For starts, I want something that I can read after being in the dark for a long while, second, water proof down to 100 meters at least, third, doesn't look like poop.

When I started reading "functional" I was going to say "as if you will actually dive to 1000 meters while wearing that watch..."

I go down to 30 meters when diving, and I'd prefer a factor of safety, so maybe like 60+meters and I'm happy.

Citing wikipedia is so not halal.

Also, that's a very vague bit of info provided on that wikipedia page.
