Finding the calories of energy in a pound of fat though, is far beyond my level of knowledge and resources, mainly because you can't directly measure it, unlike the specific heat or heat of fusion of water. It's also something that going to vary quite a bit depending on the individual and what exactly is being measured, since "fat" isn't a specific term.

and don't try to tell me you can't believe in something just because you don't understand all of the science behind it
do you understand everything that goes into making your laptop computer work right now? probably not ... yet it works and you use it

do you believe that the body requires calories to function?
do you believe that calories in food can be measured?
do you believe that calories burned in an exercise can be measured?

i trust in whatever scientific experiments have been done to measure that 3500 calories = 1 pound
(i thought it was 3600 calories = 1 pound in my memory ... but close enough)
i calculated my baseline caloric need (maintenance need) + extra calories needed for exercise
and reduced my caloric intake at a steady level below that number ... and lost steady weight for 4+ months
which followed the calculation

So you're telling me to trust your information as correct, which you yourself are trusting as correct from something you read online, but never actually saw the proof?

Also, this topic is different than your caloric intake relative to your caloric expenditure.

i don't have the patience to go do the research for you
i'm just baffled that you don't think people can and have figured out how calories get spent and stored by the body

my caloric intake was directly related to my caloric expenditure
which is why it worked
if i ate what i ate without exercising the amount that i did, i would not have lost weight
and if i ate less than what i needed but kept the exercise level the same, it would have backfired because my body would have entered starvation mode and would not have let me build muscle
