Namaste friend and to others for well wishes. Feel mostly for wife and kids but this guy is/was one of the good ones. GREAT ones. Oldest of 13 kids, yes 13, alcoholic father who was never around sober or without wanting to swing his belt. Dire barely post depression era poverty, paid for all his own clothes, before age 10, by working around stockyards (consider scene and smell of 1940s stockyards), took care of all his siblings. Lost favorite brother no. 1 to Co2 poisoning when he came home from Army unannounced and was locked out so slept/died in car at 21. Second favorite brother came home from Korea, where they both served, shellshocked and never the same. Took care of wife's family too after their father died too young. Tried to take care of violent alcoholic brother who spent adult life as street person. Took care of everyone, 6 kids, in laws, all who knew him in his neighborhood where he was known as the un-elected mayor. Worked 9-5 at gas co. for 30-plus years and built a multi-million dollar real estate business working weekedns with an initial down payment of $100 on a dump of a house that today is worth at least a million even after market crash. Did I leave out boyhood football star who scored the title winning TD two years straight? Loved his cars, never spent much until he retired (preference being for spotless Olds Cutlass 4drs) but then it was a couple sky blue Lincoln Town Cars, one of which I inherited and drove like a stock car until it got smashed in the street by a drunk, thankfully not me drunk behind its wheel too many times, and then his last a spotless new Caddy still sitting perfect in his driveway at this minute un-driven in years as no one will dare touch it. This man had every reason to throw in the towel and complain, as I have too many times myself, but he never did, ever. He just carried everybody. Good as fn gold and never asked for shite, wouldn't take it if you offered. Never drank, never smoked, married his HS gf, three dozen terrific grandkids he spoiled. For the last two years he's forgotten who he was and where he was and who even his family is. Richard H. Fitzpatrick, remember that name, he is and was a real ****ing real man and I will always thank god I was lucky enough to be one of those to get to call him Da and hear his stories and be loved by him. I probably treat his daughter half as well as I should all things considered since I'm a selfish entitled weakling brat by any comparison. I just hope he can pass soon so all this horrible humiliating pain he's been in goes away. He was the fn man, so thank you Brian, and anyone who even cares to read this shite. Sorry to Ed for ripping off on you like that, you didn't know. I loved that fn guy. He was a fn giant among men who never looked for credit for any of it or asked for anything and gave until he could not give anymore.

Now I'm late to get my daughter. Sorry, sorry to be such a fn wreck and typing but as a writer it's what I do.

Sounds like a man worth knowing. As sad as his passing may be at least he has made such a big impact on your life that you'll most likely pass down his/your values to your kids who will hopefully pass them on. Call me up if you need anything, even if it's just to vent man, and stay strong, we're here for ya.

Nick would just have to sit on Miles.
He has 130 lbs on him.
