Tough call. The fire was bad enough to melt some of the skeleton, so i'd worry some of the sheet metal would be warped. The damage is also right next to the bulge.

I think I figured out my car's problem!!!!!! The TC seems to be perpetually locked up which would probably mean a bad valve body. Needs to be confirmed though.

TC? Torque converter? Umm, if it was locked up, your engine would stall at a stop just like a manual transmission if you don't push in the clutch.

The operation of a torque converter is only engine speed depending and not gear dependent. It's a fully mechanical and separate unit between the engine and transmission with no electrical or magnetic interaction with anything on the rest of the car. It has no way of knowing what gear you are in.
