I even modded the tray using the original iphone box cradle that the phone comes in., Hacked it up to fit in the tray, made it flush, fits perfectly.

i like the a/c vent mount because it keeps the phone at almost eye-level
good for checking at a glance and for GPS usage
combined with SWYPE, i can shoot a quickie text

I had that long eurotray. Very subtle and tasty.

I elevated the platform the phone sits on for better viewing, plus its flush now, with just enough room to slide the tray shut. I need to buy the dice cable that charges the phone as well, that would be ideal.

It's basically an aftermarket head unit in the lines of the Pioneer AVIC, high-end Alpine, etc. The difference is it looks very similar to the OEM navigation unit, so it has a "factory feel" to it. I don't know about functionality, or audio quality, but I know it can do much more than the OEM nav can dream of and some of them even came with Android OS.

the e46 is not very friendly toward aftermarket stereo/nav system, right?
just the positioning
i saw some pics of the dynavin ... the double "section" mounting and moving the a/c controls down or whatever it is
it's too low for me
especially if you want to use it as a navigation

i think my interior mods will stop after the steering wheel and seats
and redo the headliner and pillars
(maybe rewrap the door panels as well)

That's why a lot of newer cars plop the screen on top of the dash...it looks ungainly but it is within your line of sight. Heck, even the speedo is too low so now they have HUDs.

That one is supposed to be plug-and-play. I know that retrofitting the OEM nav, especially now that the "newest" ones are at least 6 years old, is not worth it. You have to gut the interior to rerun the wiring as it uses a bespoke harness. Total PITA. I liked my nav, because I had plenty of buttons to play with!

As for those interior mods, they all sound like lies. Might as well rewrap the seats.
