pffft

my samsung captivate's battery life was pretty bad
but i still kept it on 100% brightness and just made sure i had extra batteries with me at all times

my samsung skyrocket... i don't even have to worry anymore
i use it on 100% brightness and use it a lot more (since everything is faster, the phone itself + the 4g LTE is blazing fast)
and i can still get through the day on the stock 1850mah battery
i think i'm averaging 13-14 hours with heavy use before getting below 10% on the stock battery
but i had ordered 4 extra batteries right when i got my phone... a little overkill because i was expecting the same kind of battery life as my old phone

It's perfectly ok to hate.

Hate horrible things like drunk driving, genocide, and fart can exhausts.

yea i don't like to carry extra batteries. my phone lasts anywhere between 1.5-3 days on a single charge unless i'm watching something or tethering. it can probably go longer if i don't use it much or put it on power saving mode 100% of the time.

on my current phone, i'm averaging a little over 24 hours before it hits 20%.

plus, for phones that i plan on keeping for longer than a year, having a black themes helps prevent the pixels from dying out faster. since AMOLED have short lifespan.

btw, i guess your phone feels even faster because your uptime is like 14 hours only. it'll probably feel a little slower once you have it on for longer than that. this is assuming you change batteries once it runs out vs. just charging it.

were you the one who posted screenshot of the battery use in the galaxy s3 thread?
what phone and carrier are you using?

i'd rather carry an extra battery and just use the phone as much as needed
than to have to turn every setting down to try to squeeze out more usage from the battery
and it's not hard to just plug the phone in at work (if you're at a desk) or while you are sleeping

and if your phone slows down the longer it stays on... why would you want to keep it on for 2-3 days at a time? it takes like 20-30 seconds to reboot? takes an extra 5-10 seconds to swap out a battery

and super amoled screens have a short lifespan? how short is short?
like i said, i kept everything on 100% with my samsung captivate
had it for 1.5 years and there was not a single thing wrong with the screen
no dead pixels or any sort of fading or weakening

nah i don't have an s3

currently a Nokia N9 with AT&T.

i don't really turn down anything else lol, well maybe the screen since there's no point in 100% brightness. all the way down is plenty bright, plus my screen works fine in direct sunlight. the only time i have the screen at 100% is when watching something or playing spot the difference.

that's just how some people view it. back in the days people would complain that rebooting the phone and carrying extra batteries is a pain. nowadays, for people to cope with crappy inefficient software, people suggest to carry batteries and reboot every once in awhile lol funny how things have changed. btw, it's only Android and Symbian that seems to slow down if you have it on for more than a couple of days. no one really wants to carry more things, that's why they have a smartphone in the first place. it's a convergence device.

same thing with the AMOLED screen. saves more energy but since it's highly reflective, it's harder to see in sunlight hence why you have to increase the brightness, and in turn affecting the battery. so it's not saving much unless you're using a primarily black theme. in fact, it uses more energy to display white than an LCD does.

it's just the lifespan for the blue pixels that is the problem. but overall the screen gets dimmer until it craps out.
