naa, i think the graphics card took a dump. i haven't been able to put it on the highest graphics processing for about a month or two now. i think it just finally crapped. sucks because i bought it used from a friend 4-5 months ago (if that).

Grant, i was thinking over the propane torch idea, i think it might work, but i feel like it's going to melt all the insulation. your thoughts? I'm only stripping half an inch of wire, so it'd be pretty close to the insulation.

Get a small soldering torch you can be pretty accurate with them.

What exactly are you doing? Splicing or putting a connector on? What gauge?

i'm just tinning the bare wire to the amp for my car stereo. i think its a 8gauge. it's pretty fat. It's the power & ground wire for it, so it's a pretty big wire.

Yes, I love the rare and the weird. 5 GT fits both, and with leg room to spare.

Actually grant, it looks fatter than an 8 gauge. it's a pretty fat cable.

A torch may be your only option.

But yeah, thick wire takes more wattage to work with. A hobbyist soldering iron won't cut it.

Time to break out the man tools!

My radioshack iron can hardly melt solder. Some day I'll get a weller. Until then, propane! Or a smaller butaine.

Yeah, I dunno what he's using and he doesn't know the actual gauge, lol. Those Radio Shack irons are like, what, 30W?
