damn, i hate this forum. i came on to just see whats up real quick then head to bed. I then start to read a thread and go do random research.

...i found out that apparently disa valves fail? i didn't know they did. now it makes me scared!

Err, yeah, pretty common. But the forum will scare you a lot more than need be. If it's going bad, just change it. If not, don't worry and get some sleep.

You can diagnose just by unplugging it and plugging it back in. A bad one will make a noticeable rattling noise. The o-ring (older motors) or RTV (newer motors) wears out over time, too, causing a vacuum leak.
