Just to clear something up, because I have a feeling the reason you question potatoes is because of the carbs, and that is not the case. While low carb does have its evolutionary benefits (We rarely got carbs from things other than fruits and vegetables for all our 3 million or so years of being humans as part of the genus Homo. Our species, Homo sapien has been around for about 200,000 years) the case with things like grains (think breads, pastas, corn/flour tortillas) is they contain toxins that attack our guts, and punch holes in the gut lining (This is called gut permeability) and prevent our bodies from absorbing nutrients from other foods. To ad to that they spike our insulin, causing insulin resistance. (This does not just effect those who have been diagnosed with diabetes)

Think about how you get a that gnawing hungry sensation just 30 minutes to an hour after eating a big ass meal full of grains or grain based products. This is because your body is insulin resistant, so it basically doesn't even know that it has taken in food. This is all hard science to boot. The real crime is that this is tought in bio medical classes that all doctors have to take in college, yet this information is pushed aside by mega corporations because they make BILLIONS of dollars off of grain products. Fresh animal products and produce are more expensive to grow and sell.

So back to potatoes, potatoes are night shades, and a lot of people get the same response from potatoes as they do from grains (Even if you think eating grains is not effecting you, they are, from chronic small headaches, bad sleep, sinus problems, etc) Potatoes are okay for some people, it depends on how your gut responds to them. It has to do with your ancestors and the type of environment they lived in. (Talking tens of thousands of years ago) If you want more info on this and a real simple and fun read go get Robb Wolfs book, The Paleo Solution, its like $8 on the kindle store on Amazon.com.
Why read a book when I can just ask you? lol but really I aint reading no stinking book.

the reason i asked is because as i previously mentioned i fvcken love potatoes. If gave up grains and potatoes I might as well kill myself now. Screw that long healthy living sh!t if I cant eat what I want. pshh GTFO of here with your hippie ****. lol

ok I wont go all out on a super strict, a no grain diet but will reducing grain intake still render benifits? Is it one of those "all or nothing" cases? I srsly love rice pasta cheese and potatoes but your telling me to cut most of that sh!t out. Lets meet somewhere in the middle.

We are naturally fat adapted, to store and use fat on our bodies (Not store like a fat person stores fat today, lol. Even people who are relatively lean have literally months of fat supply on them for energy.) a bit off topic from the point you raised but the whole needing carbs because its your brains main fuel source argument is moot, because in our natural state, the human body is ketogenic, where it converts the fat on the body to carbs for the brain. Anyways, the thermogenic response you mentioned from the amino acids and protiens breaking down has been debunked plenty of times. I know its the "normal" way to think, but normal does not mean correct. Check out Martin berkahns www.leangains.com

In regards to the catabolic state, if you are trying to gain muscle and strength beyond natural norms yes this is correct to a degree, but see the Lean Gains link I put up.

From what I understand, and from personal experience, if you wanted to be somewhere in the middle, I would say cut the grains, dairy and legumes (beans, peanuts, green peas) for 30 days. What do you have to lose? Nothing, yet you have a ton to gain in the form of feeling amazing and looking great. Then from here you can start to bring things back in. You might find that if you take in grass fed pastured dairy it does not effect you, or that maybe corn isn't too bad on you (so you can throw in some tortilla chips a couple days a week or buy corn tortillas, as long as they are as whole as possible, not some cheap processed corn tortillas with additives, etc. This applies to other things you might want to experiment with adding back in.)

On a real basic level, you could just cut out all processed foods (think almost anything not on the outer edges of grocery stores. except bread thats always on the outside edges for some reason lol) and cut down on sugar intake, especially from coffee if you drink a lot. Essentially anything boxed, overly packaged or frozen (buying fresh meat and freezing it is fine) Just stay whole foods. All this processed crap we eat today effects us on every level imaginable. This is simply a fact of life, no matter how many ridiculously convoluted mainstream studies your local news tries to confuse you with. If you were going to do this, what you have to look out for is things like breads, they are marketed with "whole" & "fresh" looks on their packaging, but if you look at the ingredients of most breads it is paragraphs long! Loaded with Corn Syrup, preservatives, additives for color, flavoring, etc. It is criminal that bread has become a "staple" of healthy eating. Even though all those things listed are not the main concern, its the fact they they are a grain based product, and what grains do to our bodies.

Random, but does anyone know of good beaches in Laguna Beach that have fire pits available for use on the beach?

Please no... your more likely to put more scratches/swirls in it with the buffer than by hand. There is no reason to buff on wax with a machine.

I would avoid turtle wax in general... as far as detailing products go I can not think of any brand worse... if you have to get something OTC... Meg's NXT 2.0 is "good" doesn't last very long though but will do the job.. or some Collinite 845 if you can find it at your local automotive store.
