I've only used a canon once, both her and I are more comfortable with Nikon's. Any advice if appreciate though. Or even if you know any hook ups or guys looking to dump gear for dirt cheap.

Oh I understand the why. But i still advise against it. I'm sure she would be just as happy with a less expensive gift. That saying "It's the thought that counts" really is true in "love" situations.
