My Ride: is totaled
would be awesome to drop the m5 engine in my car
but cost would probably be significantly higher than the m3 swap
boo

It's all relative if you're going with a engine conversion I dont really see it being "significantly" more expensive.

It's significantly more expensive, relatively speaking.

I think in the video I post of the m3 with the v10, the guy said something like "20k for the build"

but I have no idea ...... i would just imagine those engines going for a lot more that the s54's or s65's.....
this one is going for $5k, but it has no oil pan and has damage to the engine..... so ...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M5-E60-S...99a2a5&vxp=mtr

another s85 for $10k.....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E60-M5-S...bbb518&vxp=mtr

another edit since I keep looking at engines...

S65 with 11k miles for $8k
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-BMW-M...69de20&vxp=mtr

s54 with 72k miles for $5k
http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-06-BMW-e4...b4f0b7&vxp=mtr

If youre thinking about the s65 ever given any thought to the s62? It makes almost as much power, is much cheaper and the later ones are the same generation as the e46s so it's a simpler swap, electronically speaking.

some disadvantages between them is the weight differences, power delivery (s62 is more low end where s65 is a low torque screamer) and the s62 is a maintenance slore compared to the s65.

Honestly, I would probably just do the s54.
