tidbit from the RSM Police Blotter:

Smelly odors have been in the news lately. The Salton Sea got blamed for a recent assault on the olfactory system in the Inland Empire and L.A. Basin.

In Rancho Santa Margarita, the Salton Sea wasn't to blame.

A woman thought she detected the scent of cow manure that had wafted to her home from her neighbor's Rancho Santa Margarita apartment Monday evening.

She made the call to the Orange County Sheriff's Department because she was concerned about the man who lived in the unit. He was in his 50s, he walked with a cane and he didn't appear to be well.

Deputies found no cows in the apartment.

The call came in around 7 p.m. on Monday, from Flora del Sol.
