Rear diff leaks!
today i got my oil changed and the shop told me my rear diff was leaking, every where! although they said it was full of fluid? I was told it is leaking from the input shaft and both drive axles. I havent ever herd of bmw having problems with the rear diff, im thinking its just the seals or gaskets? but i do have 145,xxx miles. any suggestions/input can i fix this my self?

the seals must be leaking and they are pressed in - not diy
the removal and installation of the diff is diy and can be done in about an hour (in and out), but I have a ton of experience with it you will need the proper e-Torx socket for the bolts securing the input and output shafts

yeah mine was leaking at the input shaft at like 45k miles.. and now there's a tiny leak at one of the axles.. You're lucky to have it leak at 145,xxx miles LOL... get the seals done or just buy a low mileage differential and put that in, that way you can fix and mod your car at the same time.

If you have a manual 323 then you have a 3.07 final drive. This is a great opportunity to buy a 3.46 diff from a local junk yard and just have it installed. Not only will you get a performance increase but you'll also have your car fixed for less money.

i have an automatic, would i still want a 3.46? I don't know very much about this, i think this improves the acceleration with a smaller rotating final drive gear??? smaller gear rotates more times, spinning the wheels more times, thus faster? is this the concept?
