Ballast exchange help

I need some help regarding the following problem..

i've been having flickering problems with the driver side hid (aftermarket, mcculloch brand) and switched the bulbs and the problem did NOT follow, hence i concluded that it must be the ballast or ignitor.

now i know very little about these cars, and even less about electrical work, but have been able to switch the bulbs,etc. is it most likely the ballast since there is also a clicking sound coming from the problem side?

How do i go about fixing the ballast? it is a mcculloch aftermarket kit, so do i have to have that brand ballast or can i use just about any brand, generic?

.. how do i go about replacing the ballast? it is a mcculloch brand aftermarket hid. does it matter what brand the ballast is, etc??? where can i just get a ballast to replace it.

Have you tried swapping the ballast from one side to the other? If the ballast and igniters are separate, I would swap them individually to see which of the components is causing the issue.
