Comment: Why is it that a BMW fuel pump has a lifetime of 60k miles to 70k miles? I used to have a acura type r, with 160k, all I had to replace was timing belt and regular maintenance issues.

Exact same issue for me. Wife went to Wal-Mart, got groceries, came back out and nothing. I checked the fuses, relays, fuel pump, checked for spark...Nothing. I heard the fuel pump running with good pressure, fuses & relay are good, had power to the coils but no start. Car cranks strong so no its not a battery issue. Finally broke down, had it towed to the Stealer, and they "diagnose" it as a faulty fuel pump. Bought it and had it in 10 min later, good crank but, NO START. I should mention I had the same issue with the car a few months ago starting on every other attempt. I now have to fight the Stealer as they are the ones who claimed the pump was bad. Will keep you updated. Its almost like BMW sends a virus out and suddenly you have to take the car to get it fixed!

Woke up this morning, got into car then it wouldn't start. I'm thinking its either the starter, alternator or fuel pump. All I hear is a tick when starting it and everything works(lights, windows, wipers etc).

Well was at autoZone came out and it wouldn't start. tried it again though and it started rght up. What else would happen if ur fuel pump is going out bad gas mileage low power?

If it starts then dies then it is most likely the fuel pump.
If it cranks and does not start then it could be Security.
