Will I lose my high beams when I get Xenon's? - Page 2

Hi Nick,

Searching doesn't seem to be answering this question for me. My car has the OEM bi-xenons with the auto-leveling feature. If I want to get 55W ballasts for more power, can I upgrade just the bulbs and the ballast w/o any additional changes or will I lose the bi-xenon ability along with the auto leveling feature?

No, you cannot upgrade the bulbs only.
Also, if you get the ballasts as well, you 100% will lose your bixenon functionality, but will not lose the auto-leveling feature.

That's what I don't understand. I thought the bi-xenon feature is dependant on a mechanism that raises the lens or the screen in front of the lens; if this is true, then why would the simple replacement of a bulb affect this feature assuming I can do this w/o having to get a different ballast?

I know you've most likely answered this before but I sifted through a zillion of your posts but didn't find it.

It's also dependent on the ballast to send it the signal as well. This signal is not present in aftermarket ballasts.
