Apparently the rear end gearing makes a huge difference, not to overlook the fact that this is a Limited Slip Differential too.
Diff swaps are quite commonly described as the biggest bang for your buck available.

Yes, you can, just use the M3 rear subframe/diff. carrier and associated output shafts etc.
Do a search for people who've already completed the swap, there's a few out there.
I have the lot available, even the full set of M3 callipers and rear rotors too.

Yes,
The differentials are the same, even the SMG transmission is a 6 speed manual that has a hydraulic shifter bolted onto the end of it.

bump for this guy, had some business done with him before regarding headlight lenses
