I'm pretty sure if you want to fire a pistol underwater it has to be modified, otherwise it can easily explode when you fire it. I remember seeing a website on it, and how to do the modification...

Not a Glock.

They make an underwater version, but people are all over you tube doing it with their normal Glock.

The modification to a Glock to amke it safe for firing underwater is maritime spring caps... that is all. Glock stated offically that only the 17 was designed for this mod, but the 19 performs the same task just fine.

I think they came out with a Glock Mariner only available here with the said maritime spring cups.

We have actually had several malfunctions with Glocks. When we shoot for work, at least one gun has problems. The problem isn't the gun itself, it's with the magazines and the ammunition. People who keep their magazines loaded all the time will fatigue the mag springs. The springs then can't decompress fast enough to feed ammunition to the chamber. The problem is solved by unloading the magazines once a month and leaving them unloaded for one hour. World of difference.

I have mags that have been kept loaded for 10 years with no problems. It's the repeated compression and decompression that wears out the springs.

Would it matter if you just left the mag empty, until it's needed? It'll be locked up in a safe, not worried about quick access or anything like that.

Thanks for you input, though the glock will be for range practice. Will be getting a revolver for home defense.

do you not find that is the case with most semi autos?

I leave most mags empty and a few loaded with capacity -2.

17 aint gonna do a lot more than 15

33 aint gonna do a lot more than 31
