Question i-Pod Integration

So I am tired of listening to the radio and i have a new i-pod and want to integrate with my car. I currently have a 2000 328Ci with a 6 disk changer in the trunk. What are my best options?

Thanks in advance.

Dice is a good option, but locks out 3G iPhones. I went with a USA Spec instead.

I installed the Grom Audio V2. They have an ebay store and sells for $89 plus free shipping. It doesn't display the text on the radio but sounds really good and the installation was very easy.

I just plug my ipod into the OBDII port under the hood...but that was before I got DICE.

I use the Dice with my iphone 3g. Have to control the Ipod from my steering wheel (which I would want to do anyway) but all other iphone apps work. Receive calls, use maps, all apps work. Also installed the spec dock. Everything installed in under an hour. Super easy - Almost (I did say almost) makes the stock system sound great. I'm happy. Good Luck

Best option would be the DICE, this is the kit you need:

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for 3 Series/M3 99-06 (Trunk Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1621

The DICE iPod Kit will integrate perfectly with your BMW and offer steering wheel control as well as ID3 text and charging of your iPod. Full CD Quality can be expected after installation. There's even an integrated AUX port for other devices.

New features of DICE SILVERLINE iPod Integration kit include:

- Direct integrated connection, without the need for FM transmitters or cassette adapters
- Full Text Display on your factory radio or Navigation screen
- Full control of your iPod via the radio buttons while in play
- Browse by Individual Song
- Browse by Individual Playlist
- Browse by Individual Albums
- Source Selector w/ Integrated AUX input
- Album Selection
- Full charging mode for iPods through included dock connector

The kit will come with everything needed w/ the docking cable. The iPod can be safely stored away in the glove compartment for 100% stealth installation and accessed completely from the steering wheel controls. The DICE comes with a 15-foot cable length to reach anywhere in the vehicle you like. We have tutorials at the following link:

http://www.europeanautosource.com/su...nter/index.php

Let me know if you have any further questions, I'm happy to help.

Mine sits in the sunglasses tray. I put the module behind the climate control and head unit then fed the wire into the sunglasses compartment.

Is it possible not to eliminate the OEM CD changer when installing the Ipod DICE ?

No, it's been discussed before. But it would take a lot of work to get it to work properly.

dice is the answer for that ShaitanCR. it has both audio jack and ipod connection and you can switch between the two using the radio. just have to run an 1/8" cable from behind the glovebox (from the dice unit) to whereever you want to connect the mp3 player. best option would be to run it to the tray under the HVAC controls

Actually, this one in specifics:

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for 3 Series/M3 99-06 (Radio Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1620

Since you're in CA, you would get this in a matter of a day or two.

Whatever you do.. GET THE SHORT CONNECTOR for your DICE unit. If you get the long connector that connects in your trunk, you will probably get interference and it sucks. I just went through this on a similar unit called "NEO" and ended up returning it because the interference was maddening. They did not carry the short radio connector for my car, so I just put an AUX input in.

The basic Aux inputs from BMW are kind of annoying. They let in interference and it's irritating to pause/play the iPod when you get in and out.. then you forget and the battery dies plus you have to charge the iPod every so often. The track display on the radio is just cool. You will need a radio out of a 2003-2006 E46. Some 2002's come with the right ones depending on build date, but just be safe and go 03-06. You can get one with or without premium sound. it doesn't matter.

I hope youre not the real Shaitan !

However you dont need the DICE if you dont need to change the track youre listening to using the steering wheel/radio track controls and if you dont need the track information on the radio digital display. Instead make your own AUX cable
