the only thing that strikes me about this is that is just goes to show how deeply the E46 M3 resonated in the performance community. The car is so legendary that companies still use it as a benchmark.
And no matter what the numbers say, the real proof in the pudding is in the driving. The Genesis Coupe is a nice car, no doubt, but I seriously doubt the Genesis Coupe has the feel and dynamics of the E46 M3. Much less the speed.

haha...love the insecure rantings desperately defending your respective badges.

Yes, hyundai has come a long way. Yes, M3's are the benchmarks for FR cars. No, no one in their right mind would choose a genesis coupe over an M3 (money not being a factor, of course).

however, you still cannot deny the value of the Gen coupe.

"haha...love the insecure rantings desperately defending your respective badges."

I don't think anyone is "desperately" defending a 10-year old car. I think it's a mark of respect that Hyundai has chosen the E46 M3 as a rigidity benchmark, and I choose to recognize that.

And like I said, the Genesis Coupe is a nice car, no doubt. No one disputes its value. I certainly expect that you'll be trading your M3 for one in short order, right?

Perhaps when they come up with an original, consistent styling language, and many decades have passed since the Scoupe/Excel/Santa Fe disasters... THEN I might give them respect.

As of now they are still poor man's car... they announce "I'm on a budget".

I wrote in to motor trend the first time ive ever written into a magazine idk i felt compelled to, let me know what you think

"I just read your article on the Hyundai Genesis coupe where you compared it to the E46 M3, at first a boiling rage grew in my belly that soon settled into a mix of comedy/pride.
It appears that Hyundai just caught up and surpassed the e46 M after nine years of development, nine years(9), which is how old it is...
not the best of comparisons, to make it fair maybe you should match it up to the newest and best of the M line up the e92 M3.
"Better than an M3? In this instance, it appears so." I think we'll rethink that statement if we compare the e92 with it, match it up with the big boys today, not the ones that already proved themselves from yesteryear.
That being said, I thank you for the compliment that the car sitting in my driveway, with 9 year old technology, just got surpassed. "

They can come along way no sweat.... but its where they are coming from that needs to be referenced. Even after 9 years that car still doesn't hold a candle to an e46 m3. That car lacks style.....e46 has classic lines that still look relatively current and fresh. Personally I don't care for the e92 body style. The car underneath is another story though!!!

Flame suit on!!!

Did anyone even read the article. It says the Genesis is stiffer, that's it. How that translates to "better" who knows.

Lets see in a few years what the aftermarket world does to improve the peformance of the car. My guess is the aftermarket world for the E46 will dominate the Genesis couple even so.

MT printed a heading title in Bold print "BETTER THAN AN E46 M3". Good job on the Genesis for the improvements in their cars but it still has some ways to go. They complained of the gearbox, it needs a 3.8L V6 and it still is not as quick as the E46 M3.

I am not saying this out of a BMW ego. It just seems to be odd when it is pointed out as general headline. I am sure most 2010 cars are more rigid that 9 year old cars...

At any rate, you can say that our minivan maybe quicker to 60mph and the 1/4mi than Magnum PI's 328 but you don't see BETTER THAN A FERRARI in a magazine when introducing the Odyssey. LOL A BMW is not a FERRARI Ok but the M3 is an icon which was a benchmark when introduced. At least it was quicker than the cars in its class. The gen coupe is not.

I just thought it was a little negative but you know what that is good to have progress in the industry. I would not mind driving one as a rental with an LSD that would be a fun business trip.

Regards,
Loay
