9006 Halogen fogs. 55 or 80 watts???

2001 325i, single xenons

I am looking at 9006 bulbs that come in 55 or 80 watt (for my foglights), as well as H7's that come in 55 or 100 watts (for the high-beams)

Id rather go with the higher wattage of course; will I run into problems?

it depends on the car really. but usually running a higher wattage will lead to the wires melting/burning up because they are not designed to take that much power over a long period of time. but sometimes you won't run into any problems at all. so take your pick, you can bet that if your car does catch fire, you're SOL as insurance isn't going to cover that.

Makes sense... I am guessing the fogs are fed with 12V, so this works out to 4.5 amps or current with the 55watt bulbs, and 6.6 amps with the 80 watt; a pretty big increase of 46%...

Anyone know the stock/recommended wattage?
