Great shots, but this is a prime example of how Photobucket reduces photo quality over time. I remember seeing these a few months ago, and the pics were much sharper. Either way.. awesome car and photography!

Thanks, guys, for your compliments. I know that Scott and I both appreciate your comments. I do have to say though that this is a result of Scott's amazing work. I just moved the car to where he wanted it.

Ahhh...thanks, Toby! We should meet up halfway in Buttonwillow and do a combined NorCal/SoCal photoshoot on the race track!

Yeah, tinting the windows have been suggested and considered. But I like leaving them untinted. I think at most I would do a 50 tint. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I believe Scott uses a Nikon D300.

Interesting! I guess I should've hosted these pics from Flickr. Would Flickr be better? And thanks for the compliments!

Yes, Flickr is a LOT better at retaining quality. The only reason I know this is because I browse the photography section quite often and they recently had a thread about this. I hadn't actually seen it happen until now. Scotts pictures are always extremely sharp, and photobucket doesn't do them justice

Wow, I really like your car. How does the M5 shift knob work in the E46? Is it just plug and play, or do you have to buy special parts/mess with it to make it work? Does it have any lights that come on with your interior lights?

Thanks! The M5 shift knob isn't exactly plug 'n play. You will have to splice and crimp some wires. There is a thread on M3Forums.net about this, complete with a wiring diagram. I think you'll also have to swap out the shift boot as well since the M5 shift boot is slightly smaller than the M3 SMG one.

And yes, it's fully illuminated. If you're in neutral, the "N" will light up, likewise with reverse.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I do have to say though, I can't take credit for this idea. This was the look that Jeremy, aka "BreakMyWallet", was originally going for on his non-M E46. I was just lucky enough to find the lip. And then I waited for him to part out his car and asked him for his blessing before putting his idea on my car.

Hmmmm, I want one but I don't want to mess up doing that. Did you do the shift knob yourself? Looking at the tutorial it seems way over my head. How much did it cost to get the parts, labor, etc? Would you or someone you know be willing to install it? I'm in the SGV!

Hmmm...fortunately for me, the guy that I bought the shift knob from was a good friend, and he was nice enough to install it for me. I think I got everything from him for about $150, which was a steal. It honestly shouldn't be that difficult to install. The worse thing that could happen would be that it doesn't light up! Let me know when you've gathered up all the parts, and then maybe I can help you out.
