X5m and X6M

In the past the M Division had denounced the possibility of SUV M variants as well as forced induction. With the release of these two models what do you think the future of BMW's M Division?

If you're going to pay $800/mo on a lease for a stock "sport suv", at least its a BMW!!

No, perhaps too strong of a word, yes. But they have stated the forced induction and SUV M models do not speak to the M Philosophy. Thats why we had cars like the 4.8is. Even the 850csi was not adorned with the M badge, although it was an M car under the skin.

Point taken.
I do know a good deal about the e31s, my dad has a '97 840ci. Too bad they never really made the production M8. That would truly be a Ferrari Killer (perhaps the 599 would be in their cross hairs?)
There has been speculation that M might consider forced induction for their future cars.

What color is the X5? Looks like good old Estoril Blue The cars look good, but epic fail on the M badges.

I really don't like the way BMW is tainting the M heritage. Forced induction, not only in general but in a SUV? This is disgusting. What ever happened to N/A inline 6's? Blahhh don't even get me started...

First to make M suvs, second they're turbo'ed, that's just plain blasphemous. It's a sign of how things are changing at BMW. But from my understanding, they didn't want to make turbo Ms. They were pretty much forced to with the tightening emission regulations coming soon. The numbers on that engine are pretty impressive though. They should be able to get 600hp with it before they throw it in the F10 M5

They do, but they aren't M cars with the M badge. The M heritage is known for naturally aspirated inline engines, and has been up until recently with the introduction of the M3's new V8. I also haven't heard of the 4cyl turbo M car with 1200 hp before.

I'd take one X5 please. Still don't see the point of the X6, plus I think its ugly.

I wish they could have offered a manual like they do on the Cayenne GTS V8, but then again, Porsche does not offer a manual on their top Turbo or Turbo S models either.

I don't mind the idea of hyper tuned SUV from the M division, but they don't look "special" enough for me over the standard model.

I said goodbye to Bmw 4 years ago and it looks like there will never be a "hello" again.
